Despite 2020 being a challenging year for all, Vesta continued to move forward as a highly regarded organization, which is something we can all take pride in. However, if 2021 is going to be meaningful, it is important to recognize that our success is centered on mutual trusting relationships. We all have a shared stake in promoting Vesta as a dependable, productive, and safe coal mining service. If the energy companies trust that Vesta is supplying them quality labor, they will continue to seek Vesta workers. Therefore, everyone employed by Vesta must trust that everyone else is displaying dependability, productivity, and safety. Bottom line is that absenteeism and lack of direct communication regarding justifiable absences to mine site and Vesta supervisors are destructive to our organizational well-being and any issues must be eliminated for Vesta to prosper in 2021. With that said, we would like to acknowledge and thank the following Vesta team members who closed out the last four months of 2020 with no shift absences and are setting the example for 2021: Dylan Bruce; Roman Butler; Scotty Cochran; Ricky Comer; Gary Cooley; Josh Francis; Joe Garner; Justin Leadbeater; Keith Lenhart; Austin Parsons; Noah Patterson; Ted Rafferty; Doug Shaffer; Jason Weight; James Weight; Zheb Walters; Herb Whipkey; and Brandon Willis.
The Itmann (West Virginia) project above was one of Vesta’s productive highlights in 2020 as we sprayed 110 tons of shotcrete to protect the ribs of the new intake entry.
From the Field
“A special shout out for the solid work below at Oak Grove in Alabama two weeks ago to Harley Hubbs, Bill Darney, Keith Luff, Ray Norberg, and Doug King. Our backs were against the wall and you came through for us! Much appreciated!”
